A clinician-scientist and hepatologist with special interest in pathogenesis and treatment of viral hepatitis, liver failure and liver transplantation. I joined NUH/NUS in 2006 and is now the Head of Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology and Group Lead of the Education, Research and Innovation Subgroup of the National Liver Transplant Programme. As a hepatologist and liver transplant specialist, I have been managing patients with chronic hepatitis B infection and related complications for 16 years. As a clinician-scientist and researcher of the Singapore Hepatitis B Consortium, I have led and participated in hepatology and transplant-related basic science, translational, and clinical research, leading to 91 publications in such top-tier journals as the Gastroenterology, Gut, and Hepatology, with over 2000 citations. I am a PI and Co-I of several competitive research grants including the NMRC Translational & Clinical Research (TCR) Flagship Programme Grant and the Clinician Scientist Award. My current work focuses on developing novel targets to achieve functional cure of chronic hepatitis B and searching for early biomarkers for hepatocellular carcinoma.
